Her interest in acting was evident throughout her childhood and appeared in numerous school productions. Her first feature film, "Real Women Have Curves", brought her fame. Her fame grew due to her role as a character in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pant" however, she was praised by critics and received awards for her performance as the Best Actress on the TV series "Ugly. They comprised an award called the Golden Globe Award (Best Actress) and the Screen Actors Guild Award (Best actress), and the Primetime Emmy Award. The distinctive role she played in "Ugly Betty," as well as her following roles afterwards have made her a "role model" for the young Hispanic females in the world of entertainment. Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis expressed her gratitude for this. Ferrera was named among Time's 100 Most Influential People in 2007. She is a fervent advocate of the Save the Children's Campaign, she is also an ambassador for it.
